It seems like this ticket was overlooked during the push for 1.4, sorry. The test case is simple and clear, I repro'd it on Safari 5 on Windows. The patch is relatively large so I suspect it will need some work to get it to a manageable size.
The way the process generally works is that one of the team will triage
the bug and determine whether it's really a problem. Later, someone will
tackle a bunch of bugs for the same area of code at the same time to
reduce the labor costs of testing. So although a long time may go by without anyone commenting on the ticket, the key is whether it is fixed in the push for the next public release.
