This is a really trivial point, given that writing code is very
different from writing English sentences, but I noticed that jQuery
Mobile misspells caret as carat:
http://api.jquerymobile.com/icons/ shows icons with the names carat-d,
carat-l, carat-r and carat-u.
According to
http://grammarist.com/usage/carrot-carat-karat-caret/, a
carat is a unit of weight used in relation to precious stones.
I tried using caret-d, etc. but this is not understood by jQuery Mobile
(1.4.3) as a synonym of carat-d etc.
I just raise whether it would be worth making jQuery Mobile recognise
caret-d etc. as alternative spellings of carat-d etc. and changing the
page at
http://api.jquerymobile.com/icons/ to show the correct spelling.
I just make that relatively modest suggestion, rather than suggest that
the carat misspelling be deprecated and ultimately removed.
Some kids' English teachers might welcome the removal of this potential
source of confusion!
