-ms-filter performance

I noticed that the jQM CSS makes use of -ms-filter for gradients. Does this have the same performance caveats on a mobile device as it does on the desktop IE? (e.g., slower rendering, turns off ClearType for that element, etc.) I don't have a device to test (and I realize the jQM team just got one as well).
