Responsive design: How to open links in a modal window for desktop browsers, but not on a mobile device?

I am using the Jquery Modal UI and am able to get the modal window to show contents when clicking on the link when viewing it on a desktop.

However, when clicking on the same link on a mobile device, I want to disable the modal just have the link open up as a regular/standard page.

It's tough to tell if it is a mobile browser because there are so many. Try going to this site and loading one of their scripts. Detect Mobile Browsers - Open source mobile phone detection

Thanks for the info.

Let's just say that the site is mobile site, what is the code to make it goto a standard web page as opposed to loading a modal window

Load their jQuery script at the top of the page. Then code

if ( ! $.browser.mobile) {
// call .dialog()
}
