save data in a cookie

in Using jQuery • 12 years ago

hello,
i am wondering how to save data like : position, style, etc in a cookie, using jquery, and then to load that data back if i need to.

I've been researching and i found some plugins that help but i cant put the script together, well... because i am a beginner.

i would like a simple working example or some good documentation because from what i read it doesn't seem to be very hard, but on every forum I've been that talks about cookie setup there is not so much info

Using the Cookie plugin, it would be something like this:

$(function() {
var position = $.cookie('position') || defaultPosition; // Retrieve cookie values or use defaults
var style = $.cookie('style') || defaultStyle;
... // Restore position and style
$('#save').click(function() { // Save cookies
... // Extract position and style
var options = {expires: 7};
$.cookie('position', position, options);
$.cookie('style', style, options);
});
});
