Superfish menu over jqueryui accordion

Hi.
I have a page where the SuperFish menu needs to open over a few elements that are grouped together by a jqueryui accordion.
It works great in all relevant browses except IE8 in compatibility mode (which, afaik is like ie7, no?). In those "not so great cases" the SuperFish menu is displayed UNDER the accordion instead of above it.
I tried playing around with z-index but to no avail
Is there any way to fix this?
