WebApp fullscreen modus since iOS Update 7.0.3 leads to new Window in Safari

Dear all,

since i have updated my iPhone to iOS 7.0.3 my web app is not working anymore as before. The web app is running in fullscreen Modus and if you click on a link by using the attribute data-ajax=false it is opening a new window in Safari.

Do you know any way to solve this issue? Apple Support told me that i am more intelligent than the employee who is working in the Support team and the Manager of them had no solution for me.

On example is https://s3.amazonaws.com/kaontest/testopen/index.html

But now there is no chance to open external links without ajax in the full screen mode.

It's a pretty bad idea to open an external site in a webapp or native app anyway. You lose control of your app then - if the external site blocks you from using "back", then you are stuck.

IMO, external sites should always be opened in Safari, not within your webapp.

In a native app, if you want to open an external site in your your app, you should use a second WebView. Not sure if there is some PhoneGap plugin for this.

thank you very much for your fast response.

Generally - perhaps i had unterstood the concept wrong - i work with one index.php file and this file will be dynamic build up via php. I like to navigate from http://www.example.de/index.php?action=home to the same page on same Domain but without using Ajax http://www.example.de/index.php?action=news or back to the startpage http://www.example.de/index.php. But if use the link on this way it is Routing into Safari and my WebApp is locked with user credentials so the user needs to login again. This is really bad and user will not accept this. Before the update with 7.0.2 it was working fine. On my iPad it is still working.

Do you have any idea how to solve it?

One more hint. If i use Ajax, i also want to use the navigation panel (it`s very fine thanks to the developer) and with Ajax the entries in the Panel will grow and duplicates will be in. Before without Ajax everything was working fine because of the page refresh.

Important is that i use still only one index.php file and there is controller implemented which is routing the user to the correct content.

watusiware, OAuth needs you to go to another site and if you do it in Safari, your webapp won't be authorized due to sandboxing.

Clearly, there are issues with web apps in 7.x - I think developers are just going to have to be patient while Apple works these issues out, as it seems to change with every minor release.

The *proper* way to do OAuth is in Safari. That way, the user is assured that your app is not intercepting the user ID/password, and the user is also reassured that they are using the trusted platform browser, not some app with unknown security.

I realize that many apps handle OAuth with a page within the app, but that is not at all keeping in the spirit of OAuth, and users should reject such apps. (Unfortunately, they generally don't have enough knowledge to do so.)

Not sure how to handle this with webapps, but I do this in native apps. After authorization, the user is redirected back to the native app using a custom URL scheme. Not familiar enough with iOS web apps to know if there is some way to return to your web app using some special type of URL.
