Autocomplete can be done without jQuery UI in vanilla javascript.

The standalone effects seem out-of-date.

The drag and drop that I just implemented is neat as well but as you kindly helped and sharply observed, just confusing, 

I kind of skip Tooltips, that is, when an application is used by users who are knowledgeable about the subject matter, and when the UI is easy, no instructional help seems necessary and when it's absolutely necessary to provide some instruction, I just put them at the top, very obvious = very easy to spot.

As for tabs, in my experience, many users can't like tabs they feel going places... so, I try not to use them whenever possible.

Regarding accordion, I played with it before but never implemented to any app that wrote.

Most of the new browsers have good implementations of <Input type=date>. All except Safari. So datepicker is still needed some times.

I forgot to mention sortable. It builds on drag and drop and just works. It’s pretty cool.To make it work with mobile devices you just need to add "touch punch".

PS 

UI drag and drop is very different from native desktop file drag and drop. 

My development work is mostly for businesses, the type that usually require "heavy" data input with big (lengthy) FORMs, so, mobile is not a productive environment for them.  But you're right, for the public facing apps, many ppl prefer to use phone for this and that...

So, from your PS,  it seems that you are also into desktop app development, or you used to, correct?

We’ve all done the classic stuff with lengthy forms. It’s how you learn. Last one I did used HTML5 validation. It took very little custom code, and just a great framework to do the heavy lifting. It was designed mobile (Ipad size) first. It now works on all devices and all browsers, except IE.

Interesting to know about HTML5 validation,  For the most part, I add required="required" attribute for an input field and let the modern browser to take care of the rest.  One common issue for string data is, when one's just using common sense instead of making form field equal to or shorter than back-end db table column length form submission would fail unless of course setting the db option to truncate.

Btw, you mentioned desktop stuff in one of your previous responses, just curious, do you know what command or utility that controls any of program on a windows 7 computer from start to stop?
