Why don't fixed headers and fixed footers work in jQuery Mobile when they do work in the Android 2.2 stock browser?

That is...

Why does this implementation of fixed-headers and fixed-footers work on my Android 2.2...

...but at the same time (AFAIK) there is no such implementation in jQuery Mobile other than the "magically disappering and reappearing" pseudo-fixed-headers and pseudo-fixed-footers?

That is...

...if it works at the link above then why can't jQuery Mobile do whatever they are doing there to make them work?

Basically, stubbornness. IMO, they made a bad decision, and stuck with it.

Use iscroll or the above solution. I haven't surveyed solutions for Android, but iscroll works best of the solutions I tried for iOS.
